Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

The Genomic Engineering Technologies group is seeking a Research Associate to join in the effort to develop therapeutics for treating lysosomal diseases and other genetic disorders. The candidate should have extensive experience in in vivo and ex vivo mouse procedures. Skills include mouse handling, hydrodynamic delivery, dissection, tissue harvesting and histology, behavioral testing, and ELISAs. The candidate should be generally motivated and be able to help design and carry out multiple mouse projects simultaneously.

  • Perform in vivo experiments using mouse models - responsibilities will include injections by intravenous, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, and intramuscular routes, injections for hydrodynamic delivery, behavioral testing such as Rotarod and grip strength testing, in vivo imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI) and takedown/dissections and tissue harvesting.
  • Manage mouse cohorts - monitor mice for health status, record clinical observations at regular intervals and carry out routine bio-fluid collections (orbital, tail, submandibular bleeds and urine collection).
  • Carry out analysis of samples using techniques such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE/Western blotting, FACS/flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry
  • Learn new techniques as needed
  • Keep a detailed lab notebook, updated in a timely and comprehensive manner
  • Present findings at group meetings, and format data for presentation to senior staff
The candidate must have a minimum of bachelors degree in a related field with at least 4-6 years of experience, or a masters degree with at least 2-4 years of experience. Experience working with mouse models, including mouse handling, blood collection, injections (IV and SubQ), and mouse takedown and tissue harvesting is essential. Experience with hydrodynamic delivery, survival surgeries, and in vivo imaging is preferred but not essential.

Some experience with at least one of the following molecular biology techniques is essential: ELISA, SDS-PAGE/Western blotting, FACS/flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry. Experience with multiple techniques is preferred. Willingness to learn new techniques is essential.

Level will be commensurate with experience

The candidate should have demonstrated ability to work independently with good organizational skills and attention to detail.
