The Design and Molecular Biology Group is looking for an Allele Design Scientist. Come join the premier transgenic modeling group to help design some of the most complex models in existence!! In a role combining technology development and production, you'll get to:
  • Design of targeting vectors including simple and complex knockouts and knockins and humanizations.
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot with VelociGene groups and other Regeneron Target Focus Area (TFA) scientists.
  • Maintain scientific curiosity and familiarity with current advances in transgenic technologies and literature, and apply such knowledge toward development of new or improved technologies
  • Additional responsibilities include communicating project updates and results, design troubleshooting and documentation, as well as providing scientific results that support the generation of publications and patents.
  • Benchwork in molecular biology .

The candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and 2-3 years research experience in molecular biology with demonstrable experience in diverse cloning strategies. Additional requirements include:
  • Thorough understanding of eukaryote gene structure (promotors, exons/introns, polyA signals) and protein structure (signal sequences, transmembrane and other protein domains). Experience with genome browsers and basic bioinformatics resources are desired.
  • Demonstrable experience in computer sequence manipulation software.
  • Experience in molecular biology including genome editing approaches, bacterial recombineering, and development of animal research models is highly desirable.
  • The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and effectively apply those skills to all levels of the organization.
  • Dedication to team work, ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, and flexibility between the lab bench and computer work is essential.
  • Diplomacy and flexibility in collaborating with a diverse scientific staff and the ability to effectively navigate in an environment with changing priority and timeline is an essential attribute for the candidate.
  • Great organizational skills and excellent attention to details are vital to this position.
Level will be commensurate with experience.
