The department for metabolism and muscle research at Regeneron is committed to discovering innovative medicines to treat rare and common diseases.

We are seeking an experienced scientist with strong command of drug discovery to help advance the project portfolio and validate new targets. The candidate will be working closely with the disease area head to provide scientific direction, technical expertise and leadership to the department and project teams. The incumbent will also coordinate research activities with discovery and clinical functions across the organization.

Provide scientific and technical oversight to help advance the project portfolio. Identify novel therapeutic areas and emerging approaches for target discovery. Design and oversee in vitro and in vivo studies for target validation and drug development. Responsible for drug discovery programs and coordinate research activities between department and discovery and clinical functions across the organization.

Technical skills
Disease area and drug development expertise. Broad technical skills in molecular biology, in vitro and in vivo studies is essential. Experience with progression of drug candidates into clinical development.

Management Responsibilities
Will have supervisor responsibilities. Provides scientific and technical expertise and coordinates research activities with other discovery and clinical groups at Regeneron. Participates in staff development, resource allocation and performance management

The candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • PhD and/or MD
  • Effective communicator and has supervisor experience.
  • Strong scientific and drug discovery credentials.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the art technologies and approaches to support drug discovery programs.
  • Strong command of academic or applied research and knows scientific literature in the metabolism and muscle areas.
  • 10+ years of research experience after post-doc training
