The Bioassay Group in the Therapeutic Proteins Department seeks a highly motivated Research Scientist with expertise in immune assay development to support screening and lead candidate selection. The ideal candidate should have a strong immunology background and thorough understanding of immune cell development and response to immune activating stimuli. The successful candidate should possess a PhD with 2 years post doc experience. The candidate will have experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting bioassays, including but not limited to, engineered cell-based reporter assays, and primary cell activation assays. Specific experience should include the development of functional primary and engineered cellular assays that quantitatively measure changes in cellular signaling activity, cytokine production, and cell proliferation/viability in response to small molecules and/or antibodies. Additionally, the candidate must be proficient in immunofluorescence staining procedures and flow cytometry. The ability to work collaboratively and communicate well both within the group and across group settings in a fast-paced team environment is essential.

Job Duties:
1) Isolate/process immune cells from human blood samples
2) Develop human primary cell-based functional assays
3) Develop cell-based functional assays using engineered-immortalized cells
4) Mammalian cell culture of adherent and non-adherent cell lines
5) Operate a variety of instruments including but not limited to HyperCyte, Accuri C6
cytometer, Cytoflex, ImageXpress micro XL, Victor, Hamilton, Envision Multilabel plate reader, Cell Harvester
6) Set up and run bioassays for screening and potency measurements
7) Provide Weekly presentations/verbal updates
8) Keep abreast of current/relevant literature in order to further develop scientific expertise and expand scientific/technical knowledge and skill sets
9) Train, direct and oversee the experimentation of research assistants
Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a PhD with 2+ years post doc experience

4) Experience in primary cell activation/proliferation assays
5) Strong aseptic cell culture skills
6) Stable cell line engineering skills
7) Cell-based potency assays
