Regeneron is seeking a highly motivated virologist/immunologist with a masters or bachelors degree to join a laboratory working on immunotherapy of infectious diseases. Incumbent should be both highly skilled in virology/immunology and have experience to be able to carry out experiments, with minimum supervision, analyze data and answer specific questions as defined within the projects. Skills required include viral growth assays, plaque formation and cytopathic effect assays. Incumbent should be able to perform routine tasks involved in a virology laboratory, including knowledge of techniques and basic safety procedures in BSL2 environment and proper storage and handling of viruses. Experience in animal models of disease and basic animal handling is required. Knowledge of general immunology and immune evasion by viruses would also be helpful. The successful candidate will need to be highly motivated, organized and flexible. Job Duties:
  • Incumbent will function as part of a larger team. The ultimate goal is to design, validate and develop immunotherapeutic reagents for the treatment and/or prevention of virus infections. In this role he or she will:
  • Maintain and culture viruses as necessary
  • Develop in vitro and in vivo models of virus infection
  • Perform basic immunological assays
  • Evaluate target antibodies in vitro using basic biochemical/immunological assays.
  • Evaluate target antibodies using various viral growth assays
  • Evaluate target antibodies in vivo using models of infectious disease
Job Requirements:

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Cell culture, virology, basic molecular biology/biochemistry, immunology, cell biology.

CORE COMPETENCIES: Incumbent should be able to perform tasks involved in running a virology/immunology research laboratory including knowledge of viral culture techniques and basic safety procedures in BSL2 laboratory and proper storage and handling of viruses. He/she should have experience with handling of animals and animal models of virus diseases, carry out experiments and analyze data independently. Understanding and previous experience on virology and immunology would be distinct advantages.

Experience:
  • Minimum BS, Master's desired.
  • 0-8 years of experience.
